Call for entries for an 'Annual Open Show/ No Theme' All Media Art Exhibition 2025! The Open Gallery is proud to announce its 4th Annual Open Art Exhibition in June 2025. The Open Art exhibition 2025 provides artists with a great opportunity to get greater exposure by exhibiting their work at the Open Gallery's new space at Broad Street Plaza in Halifax in front of a new audience.

 

 

The Open Gallery is looking for artists to display 2D and 3D artworks in our new Gallery space in Halifax.

The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday, 11 am - 4 pm. The exhibition will run from 11th to 28th June 2025.

Artists are invited to produce and submit original work of their choice.

We will accept artwork from any individual artist who lives/works in the UK and will be able to deliver and pick up their artwork to/from the gallery.

Any two-dimensional and 3D artwork can be submitted through curatorspace.com, the work can be in any media: painting, sculpture, photography, jewellery, artists' books, textiles, mixed media etc.

To Apply:

    -   Free to apply. If accepted, there will be a participation fee of £40 per artist.

    -   Provide a short description of your work (250 words maximum). It will be published in the art catalogue.

    -   Price (if you would like to sell it), if your work is not for sale, please state NFS.

     -  Size measurements, if the work is framed, then the size of the frame in cms.

Artist Residency - Open Call

 

This May, we are thrilled to offer a new artist residency, featuring spacious studios filled with natural light, located in the vibrant heart of Halifax. This residency presents a unique opportunity to explore new ideas, take creative risks, and break free from your usual routine. A change of surroundings can be just what you need to inspire fresh perspectives and spark your creativity. Whether you're advancing an ongoing project, embarking on something entirely new, or simply seeking uninterrupted time to focus, our studios provide a welcoming and supportive environment for your artistic practice.

The studios are perfectly situated—just a 10-minute walk from both the train and bus stations, and conveniently close to shops and local amenities.

Studio spaces are available on a flexible, weekly rolling basis at £70 per week, for up to 4 weeks. They will be open Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, offering ample time for focused work, collaboration, and exploration in a peaceful environment.

Please note: this residency provides studio space only and does not include materials or accommodation.

There will be an opportunity to exhibit your work at the Open Gallery after the end of your residency.

The Open Gallery is looking for artists to display 2D and 3D artworks in the Calderdale Industrial Museum in Halifax. The exhibition will run from 8 February to 8 March 2025.

Artists are invited to produce and submit original work on the theme of 'Textile Art'.

We will accept artwork from any individual artist who lives/works in the UK and will be able to deliver and pick up their artwork to/from the gallery.

Any two-dimensional or 3D artwork on the theme of 'Textile Art' can be submitted through curatorspace.com.

The work can be in any media: painting, sculpture, textile, jewellery, artists' books, mixed media, etc.

'Mini Art - Open Call'

The Open Gallery is currently accepting entries for their Mini Art Exhibition, which will run from December 8 to December 29. The Open Gallery is looking for artists to display 2D and 3D artworks in our Halifax gallery space. The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 4pm.

If you are interested in submitting your artwork, here are the requirements for wiring and framing:

  • All entries must be ready to hang and wired properly with D rings. On very small works, a single D ring or sawtooth hanger is acceptable.
  • Unframed gallery-wrapped canvas and floater frames are accepted.
  • All entries must have clear labels securely attached to the back, including the following information: artist name, title of art, medium, and price.
  • Any two-dimensional and 3D artwork can be submitted through curatorspace.com 

 

To Apply:

  • Free to apply. If accepted there will be a participation fee of £25 per artist.  
  • Provide a short description of your work (250 words maximum) and how this is connected to the Mini Art. It will be published in the art catalogue.

Workshop Proposals - Open Call

The Open Gallery is looking for people who would like to run art/craft workshops. Please submit your proposals through Curatorspace.

As an independent art gallery we are always looking to involve local artists and to add to our cultural offering in the community.  
As such, we are currently looking for artists who would be interested in running workshops at the gallery in Summer.
We would like to have six different workshops starting from 13/14th July - 31st August. The workshop time is from 11am - 3:30pm, it could be split into two. There will be a payment of £100 for running a full day's workshop and up to £50 for the materials.
